Instant Peace of Mind!
One quick glance is all it takes. In an instant, the wall mounted Bluelab Nutrient Monitor tells you that your crops' needs are A.O.K. If the red light flashes - it's time to make a change.
The probe can be situated 'inline' or simply placed in a tank or reservoir for constant monitoring.

What is it used for?
The Bluelab Nutrient Monitor is used to continuously measure the conductivity -EC/CF/ppm of a solution. It is designed to be mounted in a permanent position with the probe situated either 'inline' or simply placed in a reservoir. The reading is displayed on the screen at all times. The monitor also measures the temperature of the solution.
How do you use it?
As the monitor is operated by batteries, it can be located anywhere! A single push of a button will display the current temperature of the solution. The Bluelab Nutrient Monitor has an alarm feature, which is indicated by a red flashing light, to let you know that the conductivity of the solution is outside the desired value. The monitor does not need calibrating as this is locked in during manufacture for peace of mind that it is accurate every time!
No calibration is required as this is locked in during manufacture.
The monitor can display the readings in EC, CF or ppm and °C or °F. If you would like to change the reading value to be displayed, simply remove the back cover and change the jumpers.

What is Conductivity?
Conductivity is the total soluble salts contained within a liquid solution. Because pure water does not conduct electricity it has a conductivity measurement of zero. By adding soluble elements to the water, electricity is able to move through the solution giving it a conductivity rating.
So why is it important? Using hydroponics as an example, different crops grow well at different levels of nutrient strength (Electrical Conductivity - EC or CF). Controlling this nutrient strength is all important in providing the best conditions for your crop. Without proper measurement your crop could fail from root burn brought on by too high a nutrient level, or death by natural causes from not receiving the vital elements they need to grow.
Bluelabs products measure Conductivity using EC (Electrical Conductivity) or CF (Conductivity Factor). We also provide measurements in ppm, but this is only a conversion from EC.
What conductivity and temperature range does it have?
0 - 9.9EC, 0 - 99CF, 0 - 4900ppm/TDS (500 scale)
0 - 60°C, 32 - 140°F

What maintenance does it need?
You don't need to calibrate the Nutrient Monitor for conductivity or temperature as this is locked in during manufacture.
'The instrument is only as accurate as the probe is clean' - easy probe cleaning and a quick test is all you need to do to keep the Combo Meter operating perfectly for years! You will also need to replace the batteries from time to time.
Conductivity Cleaning Instructions
What could go wrong with the Monitor?
The Nutrient Monitor itself is not waterproof, so if it is accidentally dropped into a tank or reservoir this could be detrimental to it's health. The probes however are waterproof...meaning that they may be submerged in liquid, just not up to where they connect to the meter itself!
If the Conductivity/Temperature probe is not cleaned regularly, the readings will be lower than you would normally expect. The reason for this is that salts build up over time on the probe face, especially if the probe is not rinsed after use. Alot like a windscreeen of a car...if it is not cleaned then you can't see out to drive...the probes are the same, they can't see the solution they are reading!
Placing the probe 'inline' however, lowers the need to clean as often. Removal every three months and a thorough clean should be sufficient.
