How many meters can you find that have a 5 year guarantee?

These meters have proven themselves in the horticultural market for years. The guarantee is our badge of proof - reliability and accuracy!

What is it used for?

The Combo Meter measures the conductivity, pH and temperature of a solution, so wherever these readings are required, the Bluelab Combo Meter is ready to go! Whether it is a reef tank, a swimming pool, a hydroponic nutrient tank or an industrial application, its easy to read screen, simple calibration process and low maintenance requirement will give you the reliable results you depend on.

Do you need Windows Media Player to view the videos?

How do you use it?

The Bluelab Combo Meter gives you the added benefit of being able to select the display options for °C or °F and EC, CF or ppm 500.

As the Bluelab Combo Meter is portable and does not require a power supply to operate, it can be used anytime and anywhere to help you manage your crops daily nutrient requirements. It is powered by 2 x AAA alkaline batteries.

Calibration of the pH is very easy (the instructions are on the back of the meter - handy!) using the push buttons on the meter and fresh Bluelab calibration solutions. Conductivity and temperature do not need to be calibrated as this is locked in during manufacture.

The large 13mm(1/2") screen is an added bonus, displaying only the reading you are needing. "Everything you need, nothing you don't!" It will however tell you if the batteries are getting low and it turns itself off if you forget to save battery power. Selection of the required measurement is just a push of a button away!

See first hand why the Bluelab Combo Meter has everything you need and nothing you don't...

What is conductivity?

Conductivity is the total soluble salts contained within a liquid solution. Because pure water does not conduct electricity it has a conductivity measurement of zero. By adding soluble elements to the water, electricity is able to move through the solution giving it a conductivity rating.

Conductivity is measured using various scales. The scales on the Combo will provide you with EC (Electrical Conductivity), CF (Conductivity Factor) and ppm 500 (parts per million) which is also known as TDS (Total Dissolved Solids).

What is pH?

pH is the measurement of acidity and its opposite, alkalinity in a solution. Neutral pH is 7.0 pH. Acidity measures below seven pH (7.0pH) with alkalinity measuring above it (7.0pH).

It is important to maintain a hydroponic nutrient solution at a pH level where the elements in the nutrient solution are consistently available to the plant. If the solution is too acidic or too alkaline it can cause “lock up” – a situation which restricts certain elements essential for growth from being absorbed by the root structure.

What do Combo Meter users from around the world say about it?

Thanks for making a great meter - you guys make great wine too - Go New Zealand!

The Combo Meter is the ‘Cadillac’ of meters – Sebastian, OH, USA
I love your Combo Meter....an EC reading, a pH reading AND a temperature reading. What great value for money. I also like the fact that you have the calibration instructions on the back of the product. I found that really handy when I first bought it...other brands of meters are so hard to understand how to calibrate...the Combo is so easy! What I love the most though is that I have had the best crop I have ever had....I never understood how important checking those parameters were until I read an article about it in the Growing Edge...Thanks Bluelab. Carol, CA, USA
Thank you for supplying me with a new battery cover for my Combo Meter. Being so old, I didn’t think you would still have a part.
Just to let you know, I have been using this everyday for the past 7 years. I grow capsicums commercially and the Combo Meter is strapped to my hip so I can check my growing systems everyday. I can’t imagine growing without it. Thought you would like to know. - Simon, Christchurch, NZ

What Conductivity, pH and Temperature range does the Combo have?

0 - 9.9EC, 0 - 99CF, 0 - 1990ppm(500 scale/TDS)

What maintenance does it need?

You don't need to calibrate the Combo Meter for conductivity or temperature  but you do need to calibrate the pH probe and clean both probes.

'The instrument is only as accurate as the probe is clean' - easy probe cleaning and a quick test is all you need to do to keep the Combo Meter operating perfectly for years! You will also need to replace the batteries from time to time.

'Calibration' is a word that can seem intimidating. Let's dispel the myth...Select language to watch this video (3.21MB) >>

What could go wrong with the Combo Meter?

The Combo Meter itself is not waterproof, so if it is accidentally dropped into a tank or swimming pool, this could be detrimental to it's health. The probes however are waterproof...meaning they may be submerged in liquid, just not up to where they connect to the meter itself!

If the Conductivity/Temperature probe is not cleaned regularly, the readings will be lower than you would normally expect.  The reason for this is that salts build up over time on the probe face, especially if the probes are not rinsed after use. Much like a windscreen of a car...if it is not cleaned then you can't see out to drive...the probes are the same, they can't see the solution they are trying to read!

How big/little is it?

The Combo Meter is 144mm (H) x 80mm (W) x 38mm (D).

The probes have 2 metre/6.5ft cables so they have a great reach!
